This artist goes by the nickname “Zar”. The only things I know for sure about him is that he’s a guy from Texas; other than that, he’s a total enigma in terms of background and whatnot. His art can be sketchy (as in line quality, although some of his art can indeed be sketchy), surreal, realistic, abstract, light, or heavy. I find his art inspirational because his style can be used in a wide variety of ways.
Most of his art is done digitally, but a good amount is also done with traditional mediums, such as watercolour and pencil crayons. He is also exemplary with blood paintings (his blood art being the standard by which I judge other works that use blood). Not only are his pieces creative and convey powerful emotional messages, he has notable skill with animal anatomy, especially canines (his most common subject matter).
I happen to know him personally; I met him on a forum, and I was eventually directed to his DeviantArt gallery. I’ve been in contact with him for a couple years now, and he’s a pretty cool guy. Thanks to Zar, I’ve improved on my own art (as he’s always there for some critiquing), and his dark and beautiful work gives me plenty of inspiration.
